The HiflexDRIVE is available in standard, aseptic and stainless steel versions and thus fits optimally in all areas in conveyor technology especially where a long life cycle, ease of servicing, efficiency and cleanability are of upmost importance.
The combination of the BK17 range and permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) means not only that the PMSM design is superior at converting electrical energy into mechanical power, it also offers the added benefit of maintaining constant speed independent of the load. This means that motor speed does not vary – despite overload variations or cases of voltage drop – as long as the mains frequency is kept constant. PMS motors are perfectly suitable as drives for applications with constant torque such as conveyor systems.
The Bauer AsepticDRIVE is a combination of an asynchronous motor with a smooth surface (without cooling ribs and fan) and a gearbox from the renowned Bauer 2000 range.
Application Criteria
Special requirements regarding hygiene and cleaning are necessary in the production areas of the food and beverage industry. This is due to the sensitivity of the products and their perishable nature. For this reason, most equipment and production machines are made of stainless steel, permitting thorough cleaning once production has ended. Stainless steel also allows the use of acid or alkali-based cleaning agents which, in combination with disinfectants, ensure that all relevant germs and bacteria are destroyed.
With gear motors, which are generally mounted directly onto the machines, it has not been possible to fulfill these requirements in the past. The reasons for this are the design of the housing structures, the ribs of the motors and the fans used for cooling causing dirt to gather in areas which are almost impossible to reach or where the cleaning solutions cannot drain off causing so called “dirt traps”.
The Bauer 2000 series of aseptic geared motors succeeds in meeting these requirements, at least with regard to the housing, as their basic structure is already as smooth and beveled as possible. This makes cleaning easy and allows liquid residues to drain off completely.

The VLT® AutomationDrive is designed for variable speed control of all asynchronous motors and permanent magnet motors. It comes in a standard version (FC 301) and an advanced high dynamic version (FC 302) with additional functionalities. It helps save energy, increase flexibility, reduce costs related to spare parts and servicing, and optimize process control on any industrial machine or production line.
The VLT AutomationDrive is built on a flexible, modular design concept to provide versatile control. Its robust construction ensures maximum uptime. It comes equipped with a wide range of standard industry features which can be expanded with ‘plug-and-play’ options. The user-friendly graphical control panel ensures the drive is easy to set up and operate saving commissioning and operating costs.
Enclosures are available up to IP 66 (depending on the model). Integrated DC chokes and RFI filters in all models protect installations by minimizing harmonic distortion and electromagnetic interference.
The VLT AutomationDrive can also be used with applications that need to perform high-precision positioning and synchronization operations. The Integrated Motion Controller (IMC) functionality is now configurable in the drive’s software. No additional modules or hardware are necessary.
All drives are fully tested already at the factory. They require very little maintenance and provide a fast return on investment.
The performance of the VLT® AutomationDrive FC 302 is enhanced without complexity thanks to the Integrated Motion Controller (IMC).
